Total Concerts to Date

This was not easy to compile, since the majority of these dates only fall within the past four years, the list spans from 2002 to 2012. With the help of tickets, posters, set-lists, beer and memory that was jogged and scratched until it couldn’t be jogged or scratched any longer, here is a list of the all the artists I have seen and the # of shows per artist (at the bottom). I’m only 21, but I think it’s decent for living in the Maritimes. Check her out.

Top __ Albums of 2011

Month late right? No, it’s still just in time. Taxes would call this early.

These may be biased towards my tastes, but what did you expect (I picked them, shh).

1. Bon Iver, Bon Iver - Bon Iver
I am sure the album is only topped by the wow-inducing live performances held by Justin Vernon and his incredible band. Unfortunately the world will not be witnessing them at this year’s Grammys, but who would want to share a stage with Nickleback and the likes. (Lets keep the real performers and musicians for real music stages around the world.)

2. Departing - Rural Alberta Advantage
Easily my most listened to album of the year, it probably was spun over 100 times and found its way on ever summer drive. Holding the unofficial ribbon of Canada’s number one unsigned band, they have made the stage at large festivals this summer across North America included Osheaga and Pop Explosion (Halifax) that I witnessed. And they are a three piece. Just stellar.

3. My Head Is An Animal - Of Monster and Men
New band from Iceland that is sure to make waves when their debut is released world wide. If you haven’t listened to their folk/rock songs that mirror tales performed by Arcade Fire and The Decemberists then you may be just missing something in your soon-to-be-better life.

4. Mine Is Yours - Cold Way Kids

5. Metals - Feist

6. El Camino - The Black Keys
Thank you Danger Mouse. Going from small venues to selling out MSG in 15 minutes is not what was thought to happen to the Keys even 4 years ago. They have done so much that barely anyone cannot admit to having rocked out to one of their many jammin hits yet.

7. Tripper - Fruit Bats
If you love The Shins, you will love Fruit Bats. Eric Johnson is/used to be a member of the Shins before working more with this project. He must be a genius.

8. We’re New Here - Gil-Scott Heron & Jamie xx
The late and so fucking great GSH. This album was a fantastic way to put a stamp on a career. Put your headphones and hit the street with this album.

9. Seeds - Hey Rosetta!
They just keep getting better. These songs are goddamn rock ballads. Going from opening for bands at 15 dollar shows to headlining their own 35 dollar a ticket tours across North America has shown where this band has gone, and they deserve every penny of the fame. They are becoming a rock band for the ages.

10. Days - Real Estate

Encore

11. Summer of Lust - Library Voices
12. Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming - M83
13. All Eternals Deck - The Mountain Goats
14. Smother - Wild Beasts
15. House of Balloons - The Weeknd
16. James Blake - James Blake
17. Oh Fortune - Dan Mangan
18. We’re All Dying to Live - Rich Aucoin
19. Angles - The Strokes
20. Oh Land - Oh Land

Best Holiday Album

A Very She & Him Christmas - She & Him
